November 6, 2011:
Well...
It’s recruiting season at the “day job,” so there hasn’t been a whole lot of news to report, but I think that will start changing around here starting this week. I’ll tell you what I know at this point...
SWAMP DRIVE:
There is no news to report here. There are no shows lined up at this point, so we’re officially on “hiatus.” We’ve all been busy with either work or other things, and we haven’t had a chance to get anything up and running at this point. The plan after the Peachtree show was to take some time off to revamp the setlist and finish up the reworking of the album, and we’re still at that point. The downside of that now is there is no timeline to us getting back onstage at this point. I wish I had more to tell you, but that’s where things are at this point.
TRAIN OF THOUGHT... (?!)
As I mentioned last time, Fred, Mike and I did a “reunion” set at Little Hoolies about a month or so ago, and it went REALLY well. So well, that we are going to try to get back up and running! We’ve been looking at old setlists and working on getting songs back under our fingers, and I think we’re going to start rehearsing here sooner rather than later. We’re still at the point of “we want to do it” though, and we’re working on getting to the “we’re doing it” stage, but I don’t think that will take too long to get there. Who knows? Maybe by the end of the month we may have some gigs lined up??
SOLO STUFF:
Not much to report here. Again, with recruiting season at the “day job” in full swing, I haven’t had a lot of time to sit and develop anything past the “random bit of riff” stage on anything. There are a couple long weekends coming up this month though, and I’m planning on taking advantage of them and getting some music worked on. I did work on a song with Deb Desilets last week via email that apparently turned out pretty good. I haven’t heard the final version of it yet though, but she was really happy with what I did. She’s been doing some stuff up north lately, so working with her has been a bit slow. I haven’t had a chance to work on the project with the ‘nito guys in a few weeks, but again, with the long weekend coming up, I plan on getting back to that as well. In the last few years, November-February have been good months for me creatively, so I’m thinking that that trend will continue this year too. For whatever reason, things seem to get moving creatively for me this time of year. Not going to read too much into it though. I don’t want to jinx it!
That is all...TB
