February 5, 2012:
Well,
The new year is getting off to a pretty good, albeit slow start. I have been working on a couple new compositions for the “day job’s” spring concert, and I’m really happy with how one of the songs is turning out. A little too early to tell about the other one yet. If the second one turns out the way I hear it in my head, I’ll be really happy! The first song I’m writing it out on paper (“old school”) and then enter it into Finale just for the enjoyment of it. I’m planning on putting another song together for this concert as well, and that one I’ll be doing on the computer from the start. I have a pretty good group to work with this year, so I’m feeling a little more ambitious with them. I’m planning on having a couple full band songs as well as one that is a solo piece that I’ll premiere at the same show. I always like this time of year, as I have tended to be more productive on a compositional level.
Force Three, the new band I have with my Train Of Thought bandmates Fred and Mike, had our live debut a few weeks ago at a club in Ft. Lauderdale called Venom. We did 2 sets, and went over VERY well! It was almost scary how well we sounded, especially since we had only had 2 rehearsals at that point. We’re now getting the rest of our show together, and we’re also starting to get ideas and song fragments/demos together for original songs as well. Back when we were TOT, we had several songs that were new, as well as songs that were left over from other projects that we were using as well. We are going through those songs from back then, and also continuing to go through our “backlogs” of material to find things for us to use. I sent the guys a song this week from the later ‘nito days that I thought we could do some stuff with, and they both really liked the song. I think we’re gonna start working on it at the next rehearsal. We should have some show dates coming soon. We are going to also be playing some open mic nights to get our feet in the door of some clubs, and I have to say I’m really excited with what we’re going to be doing with Force Three!
There is no news on the Swamp Drive front, and I’m at this point figuring that the band just MIGHT be done at this point. There are no shows lined up at this point, and the other guys are all busy with other bands and projects at this point. I hate it when bands end with kind of a whimper, but that’s what I sadly think is gonna happen with SD. I could be wrong, but I’m no longer very optimistic at this point.
The project with Rich and Mike, the “Inkognito sort of reunion” is in a holding pattern at the moment while I work on “day job” stuff, but I plan on devoting some time to it over the Spring Break that is next month. We’ve all been busy lately, but nothing that will stop the project at this point. There should be some news soon on this front...
At this time, there is nothing else going on at this point. I have a couple new sites where my music can be seen listed on the Links section, make sure to check them out!
That is all...TB
